Fonds de recherche du Québec – Nature et technologies
Welcome to the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Nature et technologies Web site.
This site describes our mission, our areas of research, and specific information about our scholarships for students, grants for researchers, and partnerships for innovation.
Reporting to the Minister of Economic Development, Innovation and Export Trade, the Fonds promotes and develops research, disseminates the knowledge stemming from research, and fosters research training primarily in the field of natural sciences and engineering.
With the coming into effect on July 1, 2011, of Bill 130, the Fonds québécois de la recherche sur la nature et les technologies officially became the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Nature et technologies. As of September 1, like the other Fonds de recherche du Québec (the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé and the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Société et culture), the organization's board of directors will be chaired by Québec's chief scientist Mr. Rémi Quirion. M. Claude Pinel will act as interim scientific director.
June 21, 2001, the Fonds québécois de la recherche sur la nature et les technologies officially took over from the Fonds pour la Formation de chercheurs et l'aide
à la recherche (FCAR). The Fonds is a body non-profit subventionnaire established by virtue of the Law on the ministry of the Economic development, the Innovation and the Export Trade (L.R.Q ., chap. M-30.01). Raising from the Minister of the Economic Development, the Innovation and Export Trade (MDEIE), the Fonds has been tasked with the promotion and development of the research, the training and the dissemination of knowledge in areas of research connected to natural sciences, mathematics, and engineering.
