Award-winning publication: Photocatalytic valorization of glycerol to hydrogen: Optimization of operating parameters by artificial neural network

Mahmood Reza Karimi Estahbanati's study investigates and optimizes the effects of main operating parameters of the photocatalytic hydrogen production process from glycerol using nano-photocatalysts. The author of this novel work developed two statistical models based on Response surface methodology (RSM) and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) to study photocatalytic conversion of glycerol. Valorization of glycerol to hydrogen contributes to environmental conservation by elimination of this industrial waste. On the other hand, supplying required energy from the sun has the advantage of reducing CO2 emissions and increasing energy security due to solar energy abundance and local energy production.
