Award-winning publication: Direct Catalytic Methanol-to-Ethanol Photo-Conversion via Methyl Carbene
Published in: Chem, volume 5, no. 4
The global demand for renewable resources is unrelenting. Methanol is easy to obtain but has been deemed harmful to health owing to its toxicity. Liu Mingxin has found a way to convert methanol into ethanol, which remains critical in renewable materials production and is a component of the world's most widely-used plastic. The single-step conversion process could potentially lead to further developments in green chemistry.
