Mission

Québec-Océan seeks to support Québec researchers and the training of students to promote excellence in oceanographic research and dissemination of knowledge. Its obectives are to develop state-of-the-art research in oceanography, meeting current ecosystemic issues, in particular in the Arctic and the St. Lawrence; to encourage academic interdisciplinary collaborations at the national and international level; to assist in knowledge transfer, archiving and data dissemination; to facilitate the access to major infrastructures, essential to oceanographic research; to improve students' training in order to facilitate their integration into the labor market; to favor cooperation with the public and private sector; to inform the general public of the issues, research and solutions for the marine environment.
